Recent Audit

We recently conducted an audit of all 'Bimedial recessions'(BMRs) performed by Dr Kowal in 2008. The BMR is usually the first surgical technique used to correct esotropia or inward turning eye. Of the BMRs performed, 60% were straightforward cases and 40% more difficult cases requiring additional surgical techniques at the same surgery. We are happy to report that only 8% required a second operation over the next 12 months and this usually took place 9 months after the first operation.

The Clinic used to be in the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, and our name distinguished us from the Public Clinics in the Hospital.

 

The three ophthalmologists at The Private Eye Clinic are Dr. Kowal (strabismus specialist), Dr. Steiner (general ophthalmologist) and Dr. Bathija (glaucoma specialist).
