Interstate/Country Patients
1. Rural Victorian and some interstate patients could be eligible for financial
assistance for travel expenses to visit a Specialist in Melbourne. Your
local GP's or optometrist's office is likely to know, and may have the claim
forms.
2. We usually do not make surgery bookings until the patient is seen. We
can try to organise a surgery at short notice [say, within 5-7 days] for
interstate or overseas patients in a private hospital.
3. If the referral is for nystagmus, we try to arrange for eye movement
recordings @ the Melbourne University optometry school on the same visit
[e.g. morning at Melbourne Uni , Dr Kowal in the afternoon]. The last three
patients from Perth who flew over expecting surgery [and whose parents had
taken 2 weeks off for this] were treated with contact lenses or glasses.
Cancellations
Please notify the clinic within 24 hours if you are unable to attend your appointment.
A $50 FEE MAY APPLY FOR LATE CANCELLATIONS OR FAILURE TO CANCEL.
